Nowadays, libraries enhance the global access to information by integrating it with the latest emerging information technologies.  The focus of a library is mainly acquisition of sources of information, organization and dissemination of knowledge in all forms and shapes. Libraries have a noble mission of imparting education to the public, or in a broader sense, to its patrons.  Especially a modern library has no barriers of space and time.

The traditional concept of library as 'Storehouse' of knowledge and librarian as its 'Custodian' is redefined with evolution of knowledge and its ever-increasing demand.  It is the necessity of 'knowledge management', which has opened all channels for transferring, organizing and making it easily accessible.

The role of librarians as managers shall get transformed as communication links between the producers and consumers of information. Libraries in whatever stage, whether conventional/traditional or the latest with digital technologies basically adhere to the famous five laws of library science of Dr.S.R.Ranganathan (the father of Library Science in India). The laws emphasize the importance of users and books/documents, usability of documents, saving the time of the reader and recognizing library as a growing organism. The efficiency and growth of any library depends on the funding of its parent organization.

n LIBRARY COMPUTERISATION

Recent developments highlight the rapid growth in automation in all human activities. In the library many commercial automation services are available to suit various needs of the library.  But, due to budget strain and local   convenience we have purchased the local software package of library operation.

The Librarian in the digital world would become the guardian of information and libraries a means to preserve the democratic access to information. The computerization is an inevitable now a days.

Application of Information Technology in library and Information Centers promotes the efficiency of library and information centers in elementary jobs like information acquisition, processing, storage and retrieval.  In this context libraries are knowledge depositories facilitating for generating, sharing, using and storing knowledge in the form of books, compact discs, micro films, floppies, directly through internet etc.

Our library is rich enough to cater the commerce students of under graduate and postgraduate and teacher also.  We have qualitative collection of books No.   8176 worth Rs. 4,79,018/-.
